Life has a funny way of coming full circle. You could say I’m a late bloomer, though maybe I’ve just been marinating for years.
As a child, I was always drawing. Doodling in the margins of my school notebooks, sketching on scraps of paper, pen always in hand as I illustrated notes in history or literature class. I never wanted to leave the occasional art class that I could squeeze into my busy academic schedule. But over time, college, grad school, and a successful professional career took me in a different direction.
After decades helping organizations solve communication problems, I decided it was now time to be brave and return to my first love.
At its core, my work always focused on how language and design work together. But now I see communication in new ways.
Painting is simply another form of communication. Perhaps a more personal one.
My current work explores stillness and reflection. I’m drawn to the quiet corners of life through landscapes, flowers, scenes from foreign cities, people caught unguarded, beloved pets.
I work in acrylics and oils, experimenting with how color and light can preserve small, meaningful moments. What’s hidden in the shadows? What do others overlook?
In this bustling, noisy world, I paint to hold on to peace. Tranquility. Wonder. Awe. Echoes in the silence.
I hope my work invites you to pause, to notice, to feel, and maybe even to remember.
I am a member of the Rockville Art League, Montgomery Art Association, and Friends of the Yellow Barn.
